Right before leaving the MTC, Avery was asked to send an email of introduction to her new mission leaders:

Bonjour President and Sister Soerensen,

My name is Sœur Miller!
I am ao excited to meet you this upcoming week! A little about me:
I am from Meridian, ID! I love Idaho so much, it's so beautiful and I plan on living close to my parents there to raise my future family! I am one of 6 children and all five of my siblings are my absolute best friends! I am the fourth child and also the fourth missionary out of my siblings to serve a mission! I have one darling nephew and I being an aunt has been one of the greatest blessings ever! I don't know what I would do or who I would be without my wonderful parents! My family is SO important to me and I thank Heavenly Father everyday for blessing me with all of them! I am so excited and also nervous to get to Canada but I know it will be a life-changing 18 months! I can't wait to meet you and serve with you! Thank you for all you do!!

One of my favorite scriptures and also my plaque scripture is Doctrine and Covenants 84:88

"And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up."

I love this scripture because I know if I look for the Lord's hand everyday I will find it and I'm so excited to be able to lean on Him more and strengthen my testimony while serving my mission!

Hello from Canada,

We are so grateful to have welcomed our new missionaries here in Montreal and to have brought them to the mission home after a very long day of traveling. At the mission home, we were able to get a picture with them, and they were able to learn where they will serve and the name of their first companion.

We were up early this morning, and we had the blessing of spending time with them at the Mission Office, where we were able to introduce them to their new Companions.   We spent a few hours with them all together, providing some additional training, information, and answering any questions.   We focused our message on their Mission Purpose and the importance of reading and re-reading Chapter 1 of Preach My Gospel.  We also discussed the importance of obedience, and we shared President Nelson's quote that "Obedience brings blessings and strict obedience brings miracles."   In their efforts to teach the Doctrine of Christ and invite others to come unto Christ, we reinforced the importance of the Book of Mormon in their own personal studies, as well as their teaching to those seeking the Lord's help and healing found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

They had a wonderful lunch that was provided by many of our Senior Missionary Couples who are serving here in Montreal, and then they headed out to their new area with their companion.

They are looking forward to Preparation Day on Monday to reach out and visit with you on their first few days here in the mission field.

We are so grateful for your love and support, and Sister Sorensen and I feel humbled for the opportunity to serve alongside each of them.  We are grateful they have made the decision to serve the Savior and to dedicate this short chapter of their life as full-time missionaries.  Your continued prayers for them and their efforts representing the Savior are appreciated and needed.

Grateful to Serve,

President and Sister Sorensen

Good Sunday Evening,

As Sister Sorensen and I have been prayerfully preparing for Easter and seeking to do all we can to study the Atonement and the Mercy and Grace provided by our Savior, we have come to understand the miracle of what took place from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday better.   That we can be forgiven of our Sins, be raised from the Dead, and that He does indeed personally know our challenges and will always be there for us. (Alma 7:11)  Our opportunity as representatives of the Savior here in Eastern Canada is to do all we can to "Talk of Christ, Rejoice in Christ, Preach of Christ, Prophesy of Christ....so that all we meet, teach and invite know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins."  (2 N 25:26) That our friends may know as He taught "I am the resurrection and the life. He who beleives in Me, though he may die, he shall live." (John 11:25) There is urgency to this message of hope to be shared and we would invite you to do all you can over the next 5 weeks to help your friends and recent converts to prepare for Easter.   Friends, we are finding and teaching now can find the peace and joy of how the Atonement of Jesus Christ and that Sacred Easter Week can become personal to them in their own lives.

We had the heartache of spending time with one of our good missionaries who lost his father back at home this past week.  As President Nelson taught, "The only way to take sorrow out of death, is to take love out of life." But in those moments, we find hope and peace knowing that because of the Savior and His Atonement, we can be together forever with those we love and that the miracle of the Resurrection is real.  We know that every soul who has every taken a breath and lived on earth will be resurrected and that "The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul, yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body, yea, even a hari of the head shall not be lost, but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame." (Alma 40:23) "That our flesh must waste away and die; nevertheless, in our bodies we shall see God." (2 Nephi 9:4) "For it behooveth the great Creator that he suffereth himself to become subject unto men in the flesh and die for all men, that all men might become subject to Him.  For as death hath passed upon all men, to fulfil the merciful plan of the great Creator, there must needs be a power of resurrection...Wherefore it must needs be an infinite Atonement."  (2 Nephi 9:6,7)

We invite you to study 2 Nephi Chapter 9 and Preach My Gospel Chapter 3 lesson 2 as you do all you can to prepare personally for Easter and prepare to teach and invite our Friends to understand the Savior's Atonement and have the desire to follow his invitation to come unto Him and enter the waters of baptism in their effort to become lifeling disciples of Christ.

Pray for miracles. Pray for His help to find ways to be kind and compassionate, looking for an opportunity to provide an unplanned act of kindness each day to those the Lord places in your path.  Pray every day in every prayer to find those who are willing to let God prevail in their lives. Those who are willing to make Him their highest priority and are willing to submit to His will, timing, and help.

We love you and are so grateful to be called and set apart to serve along with you. May the Lord bless you with those things that matter most, and may you find gratitude in your hearts every day for His Amazing Grace and a desire to do all you can to share it with others as you invite and help them come unto Christ.

to me

Good Sunday Evening,

I was so grateful to read so many miracles that were shared in the different Zone Chats this weekend tied to the "Love Share and Invite Palm Sunday" member visits that took place this past week.  I felt impressed to extend the invitation to continue to focus on this opportunity to invite members to reflect on their testimony of the Atonement and the Easter Message and to prayerfully consider the opportunity to invite a friend, family member, less active member, neighbor or co-worker to join them and us this coming Sunday for Palm Sunday Worship.

Please continue to help amplify this prophetic message by sharing it with members and friends. It can be found on Easter.ChurchofJesusChrist.org (available to missionaries on their smartphones) and on Church social media channels.  We also encourage you to accept this invitation and invite all to come worship with us.
